Beauty Bar is proud to support the Movember movement to help change the face of men’s health by raising awareness to tackle one of the biggest issues facing men: Prostate Cancer.

We share the common values of helping men open-up, get to know themselves better, have conversations and build up a sense of community. Here’s how we support the Movember Movement; with our top 5 tips on how you can get involved and make a difference:

TIP 1

Make man time

Stay connected. Your mates are important and spending time with them is good for you. Catch up regularly, check in and make time.

TIP 2

Have open conversations

You don’t need to be an expert and you don’t have to be the sole solution, but being there for someone, listening and giving your time can be lifesaving.

TIP 3

Know the numbers

At 50, talk to your doctor about prostate cancer and whether it’s right for you to have a PSA test. If you are black or have a father or brother with prostate cancer, you should be having this conversation at 45.

Know your numbers, know your risk, talk to your doctor.

TIP 4

Know your body. Simple

Get to know what’s normal and healthy for your body. Check regularly and go to the doctor if something doesn’t feel right.

TIP 5

Move, more

Add more activity to your day. Do more of what makes you feel good. Take a walking meeting, take the stairs, cycle to work instead of driving.

For the month of November, men grow moustaches to raise awareness for men’s health. Each year, conversations are initiated by the Movember community, face-to-face, online and through the media. These are conversations that: raise awareness and educate men and women of the key health issues men face; that change behaviour and prompt men to engage in their health and know when to take action. The moustache is a catalyst for change and gives men the opportunity and confidence to talk about their health with others.
